Captain's Match Report - Club Match v Cantelupe AWAY
Match: Cantelupe
Venue: Royal Ashdown Forest
Date: Saturday 15th March
Result: LOST 3 1/2 to 2 1/2
Saturday 15th March saw us under blue skies on the first tee at Royal Ashdown for our first club match of the year against Cantelupe
Our first pair out very nearly lost the Artisans no claims bonus when Bob Clark managed to thin his approach through the green, hitting a car on the road behind, with the occupant in it! Luckily there was no damage although Bob's partner Steve Smith failed to witness the incident as he was too busy contemplating what might be on the menu after the match. The pair never recovered mentally, and went on to lose.
Fine victories followed from Peter Curd/Jim Gilsh and Ben Clark/Captain,however the next two pairs of Dave Lucas/Gerrard Kelly and Elliot Ingram/Mark Greystone failed to make an impression, leaving our anchor men of Mike Rolph/Andy Voss to achieve some credibility. It was looking good at 5 up after 12,but they couldn't handle the big match pressure and lost 5 on the bounce to halve the match.
Final score-Cantelupe 3 1/2 WHAGC 2 1/2. A most enjoyable day and Steve Smith reported that the sausage and mash was the real winner!
Congratulations to Glenn and his Fives team.I was most impressed with the post match interview Glenn, however Alan Hansens job is still safe.

See you in the bar. Keith.
