Practice Ground New Opening Times!

PRACTICE FACILITIES BEECHAM'S FIELD

Many Members have been enjoying our new practice facility on Beecham’s Field and I would encourage those that haven’t yet used it to have a go - you don’t even need to pick up your golf balls!

Tokens are available from the Professional’s Shop or Reception and are free to Members.

With the above in mind, I thought I would detail that the Club now has the following Practice Facilities available to Members and guests:

· Practice Shed – two bays with a mat and a net for each bay.

· Practice Putting Green.

· Chipping and putting area to the back 1st tee Old course, including an artificial turf hitting area and a bunker.

· Area to the left hand side of 2nd Old course including a green and bunkers- previous practice across the fairways of 18th New and 2nd Old has currently been withdrawn.

· Practice Ground on Beecham’s Field.

The Practice Ground on Beecham’s Field has now been open for a number of weeks and subsequently Member feedback has been received. As a result of feedback, the following will come into operation from 12th September.

The Practice Ground will be open:

Monday to Friday 08.00 – 6.00 pm (last bucket)

Saturday/Sunday and Bank Holidays 07.00 – 4.00 pm (last bucket)

These hours will be maintained until the clocks go back at the end of October. After this we will take a view on the operation for the winter period.

The artificial (Huxley) matting has proved very popular, perhaps because it is so forgiving! However, there are some Members who would also like to take the opportunity to play off the grass. With this in mind we will create six grass bays to the right and in line with the Huxley matting. We will trial this area for a month.

We recognise that some form of distance markers would be preferable and are placing appropriate markers and distance signage that would be put out in the morning and removed in the evening.

Any further feedback about how we can improve the facility would be gratefully received.
