Lucky Mascot turns defeat into victory!
Glenn's Surrey 5s team turned over local rivals Kingswood 3 - 2 to progress into the next round to face either Tyrrells wood or Gatton Manor.
Glenn romped home with an emphatic 8 and 6 victory leading the team by example once again, but attention quickly fell onto the team's lucky mascot, Jon Bishop, who has a 100% record in this years Surrey 5s having never won a match !.. yet the team always seem to win when Jon loses... so eyes were fixed firmly in his direction as he teed off on the 18th with his match all square... would he win and break the teams run of luck, or would he fall on his own sword yet again at the final hurdle for the sake of team!?!
Teamwork won in the end, Jon committed golfing's equivalent of seppuku by launching his final drive into the undergrowth and handed the hole to his opponent! What a team-player!
... victory for the team was confirmed with another win for Nick Giglio and a hard earned win at last for this years newcomer Darren Gallagher. Unfortunately, Neil Armstrong's run of impressive results finally came to an end... but its all about the team, and this team know how to win!
